Thanks for the info

The addition of a scope makes tracking a small or moving target very easy and quick, like birds in flight or aircraft.

Thanks. I used a scope on my Superzooms quite a bit. It worked great.

However I was never able to keep it aimed correctly when mounted on a DSLR (640mm equiv requires extremely precise alignment). It would always shift (even minute amounts) at the most inopportune times, LOL! I tried both the flash bracket mount and the hotshoe mounting methods. But your bracket looks like it may be more secure? (I'd still worry about bumping the thing and wrecking my hotshoe though)

One thing I haven't tried yet is spinning the tripod mount upside down and mounting to that.

May have to give your rig a try (though one gets quite adept at picking up an object in the viewfinder with lots of practice!)
