70-200 + macro tubes --> good for macro?

I have the 70-200 F/4 IS and have been using it in conjunction with a set of Kenko macro tubes. I've been very happy with the results and often wonder if the 100mm F/2.8 macro is worth the money.

From what I can tell, it appears that I can get closer to my subject and have greater magnification with my setup than the 100mm. Obviously I'm losing a lot of light with the tubes, but I'm typically shooting on a tripod at F/16 or F/22 with macro anyway.

Would the 100mm macro provide a better solution for macro photography than my current setup? What am I missing?
