What hope is there for the modern professional photographer...

+1 - Don't rely on hope...

...find your market place, change your style or get a new trade.

Complaining that what you create is not perceived as worth paying for makes no sense.

Its only natural that the enormous growth of "professional" class photos for free on the internet will change the market place dramatically. Some years ago pro photographers would have a huge advantage in better equipment - not so any more. Anyone with a minimum budget can have a digital camera, a fast prime and begin shooting world class pictures - if they have the talent needed.

The onslaught of photographic talent is only going to explode even more the next years.
