Equipment advise for holiday to Mexico ?

Need some advise on equipment to take with me for our upcoming holiday to the Yucatan region of Mexico. The first week will be spent exploring the various Mayan ruins in a number of excursions, and the second at our hotel base relaxing.

I (luckily) have the choice of 2 systems based around FX and DX.

For DX I have the following

D300 or D2X bodies,

For FX I have a D3 body.

Lenses - Nikon 18-200 VR (DX), Nikon 17-55 F2.8 (DX), Sigma 10-20 (DX), Nikon 70-300VR, Nikon 50mm F1.8

Then the pro lenses

My Nikon 24-70 F2.8, Nikon 70-200 F2.8 and a brilliant Sigma 15-30.

My heart tells me take the best (D3, 24-70, 15-30 & 70-200), but I'm a little concerned it might be overkill and will just weigh too much as well as looking like a good theft target.

My brain is telling me a simple kit of the D300 (with grip removed) 3 EN-EL3e batteries with the 18-200 and the sigma 10-20. Perhaps not even taking one of my SB-800's but instead my new cute SB-400.

I also have a new Nikon P7000 advanced compact which I'll also throw in for the ride and for casual snaps.

Having never been to Mexico before, have any of you seasoned travellers got any advise?

I posted this originally in the D300 forum but got no responses.
