Re: Panasonic GH1/GH2/G2 with Leica M lenses for low light?

Thank you for the word Michael!
I have used the GH2 for a few days, to find the best way, to fit it.
Set up properly, it does indeed work pretty fluidly.

It seems so far, that the only interesting lenses for me so far are the 50 Noctilux, 90 Cron pre ASPH and 135 APO.

All shorter lenses or even the 50 Lux ASPH just doesn't seem to fit for what I want.

The files indeed look very good up too ISO800.

They do also have an edge regarding banding opposed to M8 files from ISO1250 to 3200.

From ISO1600 though, things go pretty much downhill (more steep, than I am used too with other cameras, so this is definitely not showing a "low light advantage" over the M8.2 or pushed BW film).

The GH2 seems to remain interesting for me for the longer focal lengths (a in body image stabilization would be extremely helpful with the longer lenses, as the EVF can be pretty twitchy in lower light and long focal lengths without OS).

I will keep an eye on µ4/3 and keep the GH2 for now - a pity, I am no video shooter - the GH2 seems to be made for this with fast legacy lenses and some video equipment (rigs, giros, etc…).
