Since I never shoot at 1600 ISO with my G12 (which is WAY too high for any P&S IMHO) RAW is not needed for that. Also, I have and never will shoot in B&W since taking one of the most important and interesting elements out of a photo is foolish to me. I do take JPEG + RAW when taking some very important shots, but only about 5-10% of the time. To me, 800 ISO is the highest you should ever shoot with the G12 except for extreme emergencies , and then, don't expect very good IQ if you do, even in RAW.
