While IQ is important, its so dumb to think thats all that matters

How about AF ability ??

How about lens selection ?

How about DOF control ?

G3 just isn't going to give you what a D300s, 7D etc can in terms of a huge selection of lenses, especially fast telephotos, nor is it going to be able to track focus the same, or give the same subject isolation.

No matter how good the G3 may be at high ISO, trying to shoot a night football game with the 45-200 would be a joke.

You need a 70-200 2.8 or a 300mm f2.8, nothing of which exist for m4/3.

You need a system that can track a running player which m4/3 just doesn't do as well

Portriats, weddings etc ??? APS-C dslr gives way more creative control over DOF due to the longer focal length lenses availible.

Perhaps in time we will get more m4/3 fast long primes and yes, maybe it will become more viable for portraits etc, but its not today

Its just naive and silly to think we are going to see the sidelines at sporting events with no more Canon/Nikon dslr's and just a bunch of little m4/3's cameras and 45-200's on them.

Not going to happen

Agree. While the sensor is very important, the lens line up are more important.

I think Leica M9 shows us that. People won't buy it for the sensor, in fact the sensor and the OOC JPEG is quite bad. People buy it for the ability to use Leica lens (in FF).
