The wife and I have been busy with our Nikon D7000 lately. Just got the SB700 flash unit, too. Some of the photos predate the flash.

Was at the Meriden Daffodil Festival last weekend and got lots of floral shots. Some of the shots were from a bouquet we got for my daughter's birthday party.

The one of my daughter by the window with the parrot was an example of extreme dynamic range pushed from a RAW file. Enjoy!

I'm using the 18-200 VR II. It was part of the kit that Costco was selling last month. I love that lens, because it replaces the two-lens kit I was using with my prior DSLR, which I found restricted my creative abilities because it was often inconvenient to carry around extra lenses and change them in the field. The Nikkor lens covers a nice range of focal lengths and provides decent image quality at an affordable price.

My wife took that first photo. She put water droplets on the flowers for added mood. I like the fact that there's an orange complimentary color in the background, which provides a contrast to the purple flowers.

I'm a bird lover, so ducks and geese are frequent subjects. I have two parrots at home, so I'll post some of those shortly.

This is Yuki, my 13-week old Congo African Grey parrot. She just came home Sunday.

Yuki's profile shot.

Yuki on her playstand in my studio. She appears to be looking for a way off the contraption.

And here is Yuki one more time. She poses well for the camera.

Well done!

The parrot pics in the second group were all with a flash and Auto-ISO off?

Thanks for sharing.

Some of these may have been in P (program) mode, but the ISO seems to be 100 on all of the onces I checked in Adobe Bridge. Using the SB700 with the white diffusor aimed at the ceiling on all these..

They all seem nice but the one with the bird lookoing straight at you is great.

The think about the D7000, is that I can fire off shots just as quickly as I think about it, so catching moments like the goose looking straight at me is actually fairly easy now. Not like the old days when I was shooting a Pentax Spotmatic. :)
