iMovie lets you export into a variety of formats, including Apple TV. I personally export into MP4 using Quicktime's H.264 encoder and play them back with my Boxee Box on my HDTV. The Apple TV is great (and cheap) but is very limited in which formats it supports and it's only 720p. The Boxee Box, on the other hand, is more expensive but will play just about any format and is 1080p. It will even play your original MTS files natively, without any need for conversion. You simply set up shares on your PC or Mac and the Boxee Box will be able to play videos directly without any need for transcoding.

There are a plethora of other media streaming boxes out there, so it just depends on what you want to do. Also, there's software streaming solutions that will allow you to stream using a video game system like Xbox 360 or PS3. I personally really like the Boxee Box, however:
