Sigma 17-50 f2.8 or Sigma 17-70 f2.8-4.5 as general zoom lens?

Well you can't go wrong with either the Sigma or Tamron, they seem to be on par with eachother, the podium place changes depending on what test do you look at.

Anyway Photozone is my primary choice for reliable information about lenses, and there you may find a few right words on both lenses.

Where I live you can get two Tamrons with the price of one Sigma, so if image quality is on par, then you have to evaluate the investment to OS & HSM if they are worth the extra.

I'm not trying to sell Tamron's, but my idea was just to give a cheaper option to Sigma...

BTW, as said, it depends on where you look to find the winner
