Trade shows are over.

Trade shows seem to be a bit of a passé concept, a relic from a pre-internet, pre-social networking world. What we're seeing is a sort of reaction to the decline of trade show interest--PMA and CES pairing together in order to try to benefit off of each others' audiences. Of course, it also helps that there's so much overlap between the consumer camera market and the consumer electronics market.

Apple Computer, in particular, seems to be alive and kicking after they decided to swear off the idea of trade shows. Perhaps Apple's announcement that 2008 would be their last time attending Macworld was merely the first nail in the coffin for trade shows, and each passing year just adds another.

Of course, that's just my opinion. If you don't like it, I can provide you with others.
