i also had an A200 and now have an A500. i bought it for $420 at willoughbys and i don't regret it. it is a vast improvement from the a200 for noise and also the metering is spot on. with the a200 i would expose about .3 to 1 stop to the plus side to get proper exposure. i'm sure the A580 would be an even better improvement, so it's really about if you want to spend the extra money for the extra features and even better high ISO performance. with either camera there will definitely be times when you say "i would never gotten that with my A200". heres an example of one that would never have been passable with the a200. it was taken in shade with a sharp but not very fast lens. there has been no noise reduction added.
