macro lens filters from ebay?

not with those specifically, but I've used similar ones. They "work", but you hae to be aware that the addition of multiple layers of glass or plastic mounted in front of your lens WILL degrade the image. Even high quality optics will have some negative effect, and given the asking price, I'm doubtful these would be considered high quality.

That said, it's a fun, cheap way to experiment with macro. it may be enough to help you decide if it's something you'd like to learn more about before investing hundreds of dollars in a good macro lens. I'd say worthwhile

Get extension tubes instead. They have no glass so no quality loss. The only "problem" is that they suck a lot of light. Works great though.
I never heared of extension tubes for the E-Mount.

So if you recommend such, you first have to recommend a lens - and an adapter - for using those.

Maybe you are thinking of the LA-EA1 with a Sony (or a Minolta?) lens - but I even don't know if there are extension tubes for the A-Mount.

So possibly you are thinking of an OLD (non AF) lens of any brand (and for any mount)...

@digitaloutback:

This offer on ebay is simply a set of accessory lenses, "filter" is a wrong word. A good lens should be an achromat, but these are not cheap.

Karsten

Ok thanks for the advice, I'm going to try extensions tubes, I've got a minolta md 50mm f1.7 which I'm using a lot at the moment with adapter and have seen a set for 8 pounds on ebay so ill give them a whirl. Also have a md fit 70 - 210 which I'm interested to see what results I get from that. Will have a look for some pictures taken with an achromatic lens...

No :) And yes, I meant to get extension tubes for an existing adapter. Alternatively, you can get a reverse macro adapter for E-mount.

I also used a Minolta extension tube set until I bought a cheap true macro lens.

Handheld so I didn't use a small aperture.
Won't the MD/NEX adapter you're already using act as a macro extension tube?
