A sharpness score of 21.04 which is very high among all cameras not just TS2, it is actually higher than XZ-1 which has 18.22 sharpness score

Whether this site is believable is another matter, I simply don't know. It give Sony TX5 a very high score and so I bought it. I like TX5 form factor (who doesn't like a small and light waterproof camera that easily fit in shirt pocket and so light you don't feel it) but the outdoor picture it produce is far from desirable to me. I agree with the review that it has very good noise profile for a small camera, reasonable sharpness.
But the color and the overall feel of the picture (You can call that contrast or dynamic range) is dull and unappealing to me. I am talking about bright outdoor picture which should be very nice for even a cheap CCD camera (such as Canon A series) It maybe because of the CMOS sensor.
Most people don't agree with me and I would consider it just my personal opinion, CMOS sensor is inferior to CCD in bright daylight outdoor photo (color look dull in cloudy sky and look wash out in direct sunlight to me)
It is quite new compare to CCD technology which is mature. I really hope it will got better in the future but it can also be an inherant problem that can't be fixed. I think Canon CMOS is relatively better than others such as Panasonic and Sony but still not as good as old and proven CCD.
Hope it helps. I think we both share the commmon interest of finding the best compact camera (both normal and waterproof). I have been trying to find out which is the best normal compact too (S95,XZ-1,LX5,G12,p7000) and still no definite answer and same for waterproof camera. I guess that's the fun of it. Hoping someday the perfect camera will emerge!
