DP1 UK Low Price...£125 I have just bought one of these as a spare.
Same here and THANKS - I loved the DP1 and preferred the very occasional Red-Grid issue when shooting into the sun to the perpetual and hard to remove (as they're unpredictable between scenes) green corners of the DP1S (now sold) .. the old DP1 I had (which Geoff-R has now) never suffered this..

Here's hoping that 1:- Equip are genuine and not a credit card scam - 2:- that the DP1 is in stock and 3:- if its not, it's not going to be a fight with the company to get a refund.

With a Dead SD9 and a sold DP1S, this (if it arrives) will tide me over nicely until the SD1 lands

I too had my fingers crossed when I ordered on Friday, but it did seem that it was just the two Sigma items that I mentioned were cheap..everything else seemed normal retail price. I also did a google search and could not find any scam warnings and... it arrived signed delivery on Saturday!!

Ahh it ARRIVED then ? ! . Excellent !. I thought you'd just ordered .. is it a proper DP1 and not a DP1S (which has the corner issue and flatter colour than the old DP1 I found) .

I did a google search to both on the company and the checkout site and as you found, neither flagged anything up . I hope they have some left (and have the old DP1 IR filter) , the DP1 has been out of production for quite some time ..

It's a DP1...must be new old stock.

Already sold out
it doesn't actually say that , it says ""Sorry, the product was not found."" and Sigma can no longer be found in the cameras section which isn't looking good for those of us who managed to "order" one .. I'll ring them today to make sure I'm actually going to get one.

I know it does not say sold out, but I emailed to ask about shipping and they replied promptly

Hopefully you ordered in time!

John

I note they still have the compatible flashgun though.

Also if you click on 'cameras and accessories', a DP1 is the camera shown under 'compact cameras'.

Thanks,
Gary.

I spoke to them, the guy was chatty and seems to care about his customers , he said that they had three DP1s and mine was the last one, once they're sold they dissappear from the site as they're last of the old stock . they only had ONE HA-11 hood and Chris got that.

they have One flash left though I wasn't tempted, it's no more powerful than the popup on the SD14 though usable unlike the twinkler onboard the DP1 which has less go than a small cluster of white LEDs ..

and it's excellent - none of the green corners which plagued the DP1S - yeah it has the red grid issue if you shoot into the sun but sun is rare in the UK and the DP1S did it also to a degree also -- great tradeoff in issues IMO (the green corner thing drove me nuts and made me rue the day I sold my first DP1 - thanks to Chris (and Equip) for a second chance : )

Well i suppose the impression of the shop depends on if you got the cam or not. I made an order about one hour after the first post in this thread but then got a mail that he wanted me to call him for some reason. I replied monday morning and asked what the problem was. He wanted me to call to confirm the credit card(?). I called but they told me to call back. When i did there was no camera left for me only the flashgun but with no camera the final price with shipping is to high so much work for nothing.

Glad you got your DP1 OK Adam...what firmware is it running? I've just checked mine - it's 1.02 so need to do a fw2.0 update later. I've also just checked the contents of the box and ..guess what.. there is a little box with a VF-11 in it!!! Quite a good buy then for £125 and a HA-11 hood & filter for £5 ! Sorry to those who missed these.

Yep - 1.02 - I updated to 2.0 (kept the file after the first DP1 in 2008)

WOW !!!!!!!!!!!!!! just checked mine (I only removed the cam, charger and battery then put the box away ) and I've got one too !!! - I'd not have known if you'd not posted ..

Agreed - though there were only three and only one HA-11 . it's just fine like my original DP1, no green corners (old IR unit) . Sigma made a bad move with the new IR filter unit in the DP1S, I'd rather have one shot in 500 where I was careless enough to shoot into the sun & get the red grid than 99% with unpredictable green corners - I guess in sunnier climes the need is reversed ..

Thanks again Chris - if you discover a voucher for a free SD15 under the packaging, don't hesistate to post will you ! .

I share your disappointment with the DP1s green corners.

On the paper, the IR filter of the DP1s is certainly an improvement over the DP1. Initially, in addition to the red grid, the DP1 also had the green corners problem. This latter was however addressed in software, both in the firmware and SPP. So the hardware filter improvement of the DP1s was spoiled as Sigma never bothered to adapt the software to the new filter. It appears that SPP doesn't distinguish between DP1 and DP1s and applies the wrong corners correction to the DP1s files.

If anyone of Sigma is reading us, please , may you have pity of the poor DP1s users... and cure our corners.

It's not evident with 1.04 or V2 Firmware - I remember reading that the bit it had was cured in firmware early on but the DP1S IR filter may have made it too much for a firmware to adjust for (maybe it's less consistant than the DP1 variety so can't be done in firmware)

Hmmmm, Does the DP1X do the same? if so then there's something random happening which can't be corrected - if the DP1X doesn't do it then either they've changed the IR filter again or written dynamic firmware to deal with it (and as you say, needed for the S too) - the green corner issue I had with the DP1S was inconsistent as to how much and which side was worse from scene to scene. The sad bit is that the Red Grid persists in the DP1S only to a lesser degree . the Green corners issue is why I sold it. I'm sure the colour from the older DP1 is more vibrant too (thought this at the time when getting the "S") ..
