I got rid of a Sigma 'Bigma' and swapped it for a Nikon 80-400vr as the Sigma was never consistent. Sometimes it would be tack sharp, but never when I wanted it to be. The Nikon is excellent, though i have to admit the focus can be painfully slow - whereas the Sigma was very quick.

I also tried a Sigma 150-500 in straight shoot out with the Nikon 80-400, the Nikon won easily, in fact the Sigma didn't really compare, so it went back to the store

I guess you pay the money and make your choices.

Now saving for a Nikon 500mm - will be a long time though I think
