I just purchased a GH2 and connected to my computer through the USB cable. The camera is recognized as a "removable disk". I am not using the bundled PhotoFun... software as it's functionality is rather limited..

I can copy the stills and the video files from the camera by using for instance Total Commander. I can not delete files from the camera's SD-card directly from Windows which is normal procedure for my Canon camera. The "removable disk" is write-protected.

I can use the camera's Delete All function or I can remove the SD-card from the camera and do the file operations in a simple card-reader. Delete All is very slow, and I am not very fond of removing the SD-card frequently..

Is it possible to remove this write protection?

Is there a simple "workaround" program which can delete files from the camera directly?

You can simply use your SD card reader to transfer the images to your computer instead of plugging in the camera. Most people find this the most convenient approach.

In camera, instead of delete all, just format the card. Much faster, and generally it is a good idea to format once in a while to keep the card directory structure in good shape.
