Singh-Ray Fluorescent Filter Daylight Filter. How to use it effectively?

I just recently acquired a Singh-Ray Fluorescent Filter Daylight. I have not used it yet, but thought it might be very useful for my infrequent indoor work. I assume it will remove the green cast from Fluorescent light. Here's my question. I use a Canon 5D and it has a preset for dealing with Fluorescent colorcast. Should I use a custom color balance, or auto or Fluorescent setting with this filter? Also what does “Daylight” mean in relation to using this filter? How do I best utilize this filter, your advice and experience would be of great help. Thanks in advance for your help.
