Anza Borrego Desert cactus blooms

Here's a photo from 1&1/2 weeks ago in Anza Borrego Desert State Park, Southern California near the Salton Sea and the Mexican border.

This was take high up in a rugged canyon next to a stream that runs out of the coastal mountains below Julian and Warner Springs. Sheeps Canyon is only accessible by 4-wheel drive, high clearance vehicles, preferably a Jeep. The canyon trail starts at the end of a sandy road.

E-3 and 14-54 mm lens at 25 mm, ISO 200, f/6.2 and 1/100 sec. from about 6 inches away. The flower circle is probably about 3 inches across.
