GH2 highiso raw-smoothing
interesting find from dpreview on the raw-smoothing.
was it still regarded as bug with the GH1, it now seems to be a feature. when using NR+2 the raw files also seem to have gone through an additional smoothing-process.
not that i like the resulting noise-structure, but overall noise seems to be heavily reduced without too much compromise on detail. the smoothed raw even looks sharper with better detail.
it is a pity panasonic didn't apply some more sophisticated smoothing routines. the one used looks really "rough" and simple. it also seems to be the same type of processing that panasonic already started to use for the LX2 on the shadow areas. in direct comparison the LX1 was quite noisy in RAW, the LX2 had the noise smoothed away in those areas.
