Current low light champion ? (compact)

I am looking for a compact camera (non DSLR and not ultra compact) that currently top for low light regardless of cost.

My inclination was to look for huge CCDs such as:
Panasonic dmc-gf2
Olympus e-pl2
Sigma dp2x

However, I came accross reviews on these models indicating that despite expectations (by the large sensor) they are not stellar for low light.

On the other hand I've read reviews on the Canon G11 mentioning that it surpasses the old Fuji f30 f31 and later EXR models.

So I am confused. If sensor size is not a direct guarantee for good natural light performance then I can't decide unless I have your advice from experience.

There might be cameras out there that seem mediocre on paper, but are phenomenal in practice.

What is your experience so far ?
