Objectionable X100 lens flare

I have been noticing something very disturbing and consistent with the sample X100 that I consider a true failing of the lens design. Look at the night shots in these samples and note the street lights, headlights and other lights in these photos:

I have been very excited about this camera until now. Is Fuji trying too hard to make a lens so small? It also makes one wonder what this flare is doing to photos not in nighttime situations.

Comments anyone? I'm about to pull the plug.
