My thoughts exactly

My thoughts are exactly as yours. I really don't like much in-camera noise reduction, but am willing to shoot RAW if shot-to-shot time is at least reasonable. OTOH, the TL500 RAW results seem worth the effort to at least batch-convert (if only to avoid the JPEG NR), the RAW's look great. ISO 800 RAW looks very usable to me as well, combined with the fast lens. The high ISO noise does not look ugly to me.

For me, it's between this and a E-P1 w/ 17mm (for affordability.) TL500 is small sensor but gains a stop at wide angle, and has 3x zoom. E-P1 is a nice camera with good JPEG and adjustable NR, and possibility of other lenses down the road. I like the handling of the E-P1 too, it's customizable like a DSLR. Neither are pocketable, but both fit in relatively compact belt case.
