Why not to buy a new camera

Just a thought from the famous Life Photographer Andreas Feininger

After buying and returning several Leicas and other cameras he made some of the following perceptions

Bears some thinking -

People buy a camera because some other guy did beautiful work with it. But it doesn't fit their temperament, and they trade it for another camera which doesn't satisfy them either for some reason or other. They trade it again

This vicious circle continues for years. Interest remains concentrated on the equipment and is never free to be applied where it belongs - to making photographs

Maybe, if he wouldn't give up so easily, such a photographer would eventually get acquainted with the camera and get good pictures out of it.

However, in the search for the "ideal" camera which exists as little as the "ideal" woman- if something doesn't work out right away, he gets discourage and trades in his camera.

This is from 1949 and how true I believe it is in the digital world when it appears people need the latest and greatest new camera body every 6 months or 1 year

Just a thought
