Re: Asia, now.
  • Appreciation of the Yen. Oly might have to increase prices.

Olympus has countered this by moving camera production to both - Europe and Americas.

  • Category: missing profits might entirely be due to P&S/iPhones, and/or dSLR vanishing.

It probably is. The disappearance of Olympus DSLR's in Europe and Americas have surely made an impact considering m4/3 has not been so big there.

  • Geographical factor: lack of profits is negligible in Japan. But they plunged in America and Europe. Therefore unless Oly adopts dSLR like models like Panny, which did well in the US; I see it folding American and European operations. Those are dSLR centric countries. Oly would do well to concentrate its marketing in Asia, like Mr. Terada hinted at. That's were sales are for mirrorlesss anyway.

Europe and America together make 42% of Olympus business, as much as the Japanese part. Asia only makes 11%. So expanding in Asia is sensible of course, but killing market in Europe and America at the same time is not. They have absolutely no guarantee that they will succeed in Asia.
