Hi Jon,

... I do like these two advantages of the longer zoom. But at the end of the day, it's picture quality that'll matter most. The little one isn't miles better than the longer one, but, according to reviews, is the better of the two where IQ alone is the concern.

No argument that as to MTF resolution and pixel-peeping the 18-55mm is sharper than the 18-135mm, but then it should be -- i.e., 3x zoom range vs. 7.5x zoom range (for the prices.

If having the best resolution possible is more important than the convenience of greater 18-185mm zoom range then the 18-55mm, or even better the 17-55mm is the zoom to buy.

The bottom is, are you going to be doing prints large enough to be able to "see" the difference between prints from a 18-55mm 18-135mm?

Good luck on your final decision!

Cheers,
Jon
