Re: Canon G11 vs G12

It is a supply and demand thing. Since the G11 is a discontinued camera, the supplies are drying up. As a result Amazon has increased the price to take advantage of those who just have to have a G11. It is kind of like ticket scalping for the Super Bowl. When something is hard to get, someone is willing to charge you more to get one.

The G12 is a more plentiful camera since it is the current Canon G model. It improves upon the G11 in many ways and is considered the better camera of the two -- regardless of what you have to pay to get one.

Disclaimer -- I have a G12 and like it very much.

A friend is offering to sell me her G11, since she wants to buy a full fledged dSLR.
I checked out the specs on amazon and found this:

Why is the older G11 more expensive than the newer G12. Can you enlighten me?
It wasn't me, it was the dog - really!
