A 300mm F4 is very good lens for it's money, and delivers high quality images. i bought it for aviation and i am more then satisfied, haven't used the 80-400 since then....

As best as I can tell from reading comments over 2-3 years, there's a lot of sample variation. If true, you have a good copy and that's wonderful. Personally, I don't like lotteries. Mainly because I never seem to win anything

I still seems to me that there are a ton of amateur shooters with an interest in wildlife and/or aviation who can't justify $5K plus lenses. These folks are not being well served by anyone as far as I can see. It would be nice to see a Nikon (preferably) or a Canon step up to the plate with a killer solution for all of those folks. The market must be considerable.
