To answer your question, the Epson 2400 will make beautiful prints. As for paper, it depends on what you like. Papers generally fall into two main categories: Matte surface, Fine Art papers that use the Matte Black ink, and Photo papers with more glossy surface that use the Photo Black ink.

For photo papers my current favorites are the Ilford Gold Fibre Silk, Canson Infinity Baryta Photographique, and Epson's Exhibition Fiber. I also like Museo Silver Rag, which has a slightly more pronounced texture than the others.

I generally use the Museo Rag papers for matte prints. I like Portfolio Rag and Museo Max.
