To all those surprised about

this shouldn't be a surprise. The E-30 was ceased to be manufactured long ago and so was the 620 too. These cameras are made in batches and once that runs out that's it for the most part.

This shouldn't be a big deal nor surprise. It's how many models work out. There should be no surprise that only the E-5 carries the torch- that's pretty much what Olympus said on several interviews.

If you like an E-30 or 620 and you see a good closeout sell on it, just buy. The camera will still be serviced by Olympus for years to come. This is the world of technology- it's how it works. Many artifacts and brands fall in this category.

Update: Olympus has stated several times if you want to upgrade from e-3/e-30, you go E-5. If you upgrade from 420/520/620/600, you go micro four thirds/Pen.
