E3 vs E5 RAW Comparison - Simple Landscape

This is just copied from a reply in one of the existing threads, but thought it may be good to have it out in the open. Nothing special in the photo just a simple basic shot.

Shots were taken within short time frame of one another and have been processed in LR 3.3. Sharpening was default levels within LR. All were shots on E3 & E5 were taken with the 12-60mm at 12mm & 35mm at f5.6, focusing on the same tree, all at ISO 200.

NOTE: No highlight recovery was used so the shot is standard. Also, note that LR makes the E5 shots a bit greener than the OOC JPEG.

Oh, the DPR gallery wont show the full size of the image but nevertheless I think you will get the general idea.

E3 then E5 @ 12mm

E3 then E5 @12mm 100% crop

E3 then E5 @ 35mm

E3 then E5 @ 35mm 100% crop

Now, as bit of a test, the below is the 100% crop of the 35mm shot but sharpened quickly in LR with the amount of 60 with a Radius of 0.5.

E3 then E5

Luminance NR is set at 0.

Also note that most of the sky in the E3 12mm shot had blown highlights, some of which could not be recovered. The E5 retained most of the highlights, but the small section that did blow out could be recovered.
