Why DSLR over Good super-zoom?

I'm aware of the things that a DSLR can accomplish over the capabilities of a quality super-zoom P&S. Yet, in my experience of using both, I really see very little, if any, noticable differences in IQ between the two photo tools. Granted, the majority of my shots are taken outside and in good light. And I'm really not much of a DOF fanatic. So...under those circumstances is it normal to see very little difference? I shoot with a T1i DSLR, with middle-of-road quality lenses(includint an "L"), AND a Canon sx20IS. Remove the P&S's handicaps of lower light and fast action, is it normal to find one almost liking the results of the P&S better than the DSLR?
