Does anyone like photos with the small white border all around? I saw some old photos like that, and I really like the look - very crisp with the pic contained. Does any place print like that anymore?

Thanks.

Tricia -

I'm just a little surprised by your post here... although on reflection I suppose that nowadays it has become more of a standard thing that (unlike older days) most people DO seem now to accept pics as printed to the edge and no border as it used to be..
But if you mean something like this ...

... I'm sure that if you DO have your pics printed by some shop or other service, it is mostly the case that they print borderless..but surely if you did ask for them to print with a white border they would do so.

Alternatively... I use Photoshop...if you use another Editor program I'm sure THAT will let you add a white border (to any size you wish) - then you could just hand them in for printing WITH the added border already on (tell them to include it of course)

It really is very easy to add a whitye border in almost any half-decent Editor program.

Snapfish, Shutterfly, and Kodak Gallery all give you the option to print borderless or with the white border (as well as with matte or glossy surfaces). For the most part, I always get my photos printed with the white border.

Tricia: If you usually print 4X6 prints --You can get a neat little printer called the Selphy by Canon. It has a few options for doing 4X6 prints including borders. It's a self contained unit, quite reasonable in price, and it works VERY well. I'm very pleased with mine, and doesn't cost a fortune to make the prints.

Hi Tricia: Happy New Year.

I should have mentioned that the little Selphy printer uses a dye sublimation method which means it doesn't use ink in a cartridge -- instead, it uses a ribbon and it's very effective and easy. Just plug your cam into the printer - tell it which picture to print and away you go -- about 3 minutes later you have a print. The paper and ribbon is available as a package available in camera stores or even Wal-Mart. Good luck!

I believe all photo printers give the option to print with or without borders.

I prefer borders because you don't actually have to touch the picture when handling the photo.
