I used a Nikon 300mm f/4d AF-S with extension tubes for all of these images.

My lighting set-up is very simple-only natural light. Never use flash, diffusers or reflectors.

I shoot mostly from first light to about an hour after sunrise. Cloudy days are also a good time to shoot.
I use a tripod, mirror lock-up and a remote shutter release for every shot.

I asked about your lighting because the EXIF said "strobe detected" or something. The colors are ... well, they leave me scratching my head ... all I can say is that nature is sure beautiful. Thanks for sharing your methods ... your images certainly put a new perspective on insects .. next spring I'll have to go 'bug hunting' - I have a whole new world to explore ..

Strobe detected is because on occasion I used the D100's pop-up flash for a touch of fill light. I should of stated that I never use flash as the primary light source.

It's less about the subject and more about the composition & light- Ronnie Gaubert.
