Are YOU a photographer ???? Read on..........

Humorous story, then serious subject.....

I was asked to bring a few of my photographs to a friends house who
wanted to show them to someone. I hate doing that and was reluctant
but, I caved in a brought over three photos. We then drove to her
friends house, where just before dinner was being served, my friend
was showing the three photos. The response was an interesting
one......

wow these photos are great, you must have a great camera!

Well, after dinner and, on the way out the door when we were
leaving, my girldfirend says.....

the food was delicious....... those must be great pots and pans
you have!!

he he

Ok, on a serious note:
I was walking on the pier at the beach and a woman stopped and
looked at my weird looking F717. She immediately asked me.... are
you a photographer ? I told her I live and breathe with this
camera and yes, sometimes I'm a photographer.

I find myself in a strange way these days. Everywhere I go, I find
myself looking at things very differently. It's like I'm in
constant hunt for a photograph through my eyes. DO you find
yourself doing this ? It's like a disease... really !! :-) I
find myself doing this while I drive, when I walk, when I'm in
someone else's car as a passenger, when I'm simply walking in the
parking lot to my car after leaving a store shopping.... this is
getting out of hand... it's nuts! lol Is there a cure ? :-)

Sometimes it's really annoying to others. I was a the zoo last week
and my lady friend complained I was taking too long to walk through
the zoo. Then she complained I was taking too many photos of each
animal. Then she complained it was too hot out. Then she
complained I wasn't holding her hand enough while we walked. Ok, so
the zoo trip got out of hand. lol
Lesson.... NEVER take anyone with you on a photo shoot.... never! :-)

Well, that's enough rant!! I was SOOOO tired of Sony bashing talk,
F717 return talk, I had to do something. :-) Feel free to comment
all you want and, tell me what a nut I am..... in a perpetual hunt

--I am soooooooo hooked on photography now that I have gone digital..

I love my f707.. I seem to take it with me to as many places that I can without looking like a freak.... But, you know, I am not even worried about that anymore.. I am doing something that I love... It is great to be spontanious and have the ability to capture a moment in time that can never be repeated... The beauty is being outdoors, and never knowing what I may take a picture of next, until it just jumps out in front of you..

I am constantly looking for anything to capture.. Anything that tells an interesting story.. Every day, I am learning how to do something different..

It is great to learn the limitations of our camera... Luckily, the f707/717 has a high ceiling on its limitations.... Just get out there and push it to the max.!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :) Vaughn T. Winfree

VERY cool Ann! I'm not surprised you got "firsts" you have a keen eye for photography. Me, I've never been a people person when it comes to photography.... I like subjects that I don't have to answer to. LOL

Mark J
what ever can you photograph in your office that's photographic ? lol

Sorry I made you feel camera lonely today... it's ok, your camera
forgives you for leaving it in the truck while you are in the
office.

I bet there's one place you surely do NOT take the camera.......

This has been my life for 11 months now. lol Pretty much exactly
as you put it. When I drive with my wife and she sees me
rubbernecking at something her comment "See a good picture, there,
didja?" It is out of hand and completely uncontrollable. I plan
my family events around it...

I can't go out anywhere without my camera. Always. I just wish I
had more time to use it. I take it with me, but most of the time
just wish I had more time to stop.

Today at work was especially painful. We've had a crummy fall, and
the leaves have fallen but the colors never changed. It's been
gray and cold - but today the temps snuck up to 60, and it was the
most beautiful late fall afternoon sun. Unfortunately I'm looking
at it through my office window. I was working on some stuff with
my headphones on and heard the dejay talking about what a beautiful
evening it was (btw, it's pitch black by 5:30 here now, so this was
about 3:30-4:00). Anyway, I looked out my office window and I
could just feel the rush - then the disappointment. I went to the
window and everything was golden. Had my camera been in my office
and not the truck I would have taken a picture from my offce.
Instead, I just stood there yearning to be out. Everything was a
photo.

I dont' know what it is, but lately everything has had more of a
romantic look to it. Maybe it's because I haven't been out
consciously shooting, or because I haven't had time. It's made the
desire all the worse.

Okay, now you got me in the mood..... I'm going to go setup pics in
my office....

well,... sometimes I thiink that i am the only crazy person in the world ! But now i think that there are other people who feels the same way !!

I love the world that I live in and everything surrounded me. since i started photagrophy, I have been enjoying my life more and more.Looking at the things in more details let me to discover the unknown beauties of this world...and by taking the pictures .... i am in a better proccess of knowing my life and myself ...

I think one of the best things that i have ever done was buyng a " Digital Camera".....

Mark,

Nice story that I'm sure a lot of us can relate to. I always find it amazing that people who would normal walk you by would come up and spark a conversation because I have a digital camera in my hand. I was recently in the gazebo at the Observatory here in Sydney. Great place to grab night shots of the bridge and surrounds. There were 6 camera dudes here and 4 had Sony 707's and one had a Cannon SLR with all the gear. We sat and talked cameras and lighting for ages as well as made new friends.......amazing, 4 x 707's in one spot and not one of us thought of taking a group photo DOH...

David:

Can I ask if the class you are taking is a DIGITAL photography class? Our local community college only offers the classical 35 MM classes and I've been tempted to take them but would really like a digital class. I've taken the class called "Digital Imagery", but it was only a Photoshop tutorial...still, I learned immensely from it. Then the "Image Editting for the Web" class...again, just another Photoshop class. But alas, no Digital Photography classes offered. Maybe it's because were in Montana? We're not the END of the world, but you can SEE it from here! :)

Yesssss, I'm going thru the same things, Mark. I actually wake up in the mornings and try to think of things I can photograph. Every outing is an opportunity to take the camera along. What a wonderful way to remember the places you visit, the things you do, the events you attend...a photographic record of your life.

We are planning a Sedona Christmas this year, to bring our family 'together' again. I am already thinking about how I'm going to save all my pics. I only have two 128 MB sticks. I hinted (to my wife...who is very patient with me) that I might NEED a laptop to store all my pics (she's not THAT patient). So now I'm looking at buying about three or four more memorysticks or conning my step-father into letting me use his laptop for a 'vault' and then I'd burn a CD before returning.

Yes, it DOES change your life, mark...but, for the better I believe. How many people walk by what they perceive is mundane, ordinary life and WE see it entirely differently and can see the beauty in the mundane AND record it for all to see?

Sometimes it's really annoying to others. I was a the zoo last week
and my lady friend complained I was taking too long to walk through
the zoo. Then she complained I was taking too many photos of each
animal. Then she complained it was too hot out. Then she
complained I wasn't holding her hand enough while we walked. Ok, so
the zoo trip got out of hand. lol
Lesson.... NEVER take anyone with you on a photo shoot.... never! :-)

Well, that's enough rant!! I was SOOOO tired of Sony bashing talk,
F717 return talk, I had to do something. :-) Feel free to comment
all you want and, tell me what a nut I am..... in a perpetual hunt
for photographics.

Have a nice night,
Mark J
