7D or D700 for Sports and Wildlife?

I appreciate your time and advice. It's great to be able to draw on the expert knowledge of people like you who have so much experience. So, again, thanks for taking the time to provide me with your feedback and insight!

I may very well end up with a 70-200 f/2.8L zoom for the very same reasons that you did. You brought up some very valid points and, in many ways (perhaps all ways really), the zoom would be the better choice for what I plan to shoot.

It's very easy to return things with B&H and the original version of that lens is within my budget (the newer II version isn't, though). Anyhoo, thanks again!
