My name is Ziv Gillat, and I'm one of the Eye-Fi co-founders. I'm not 100% familiar with the 1DmkIV, but it IS Eye-Fi Connected, which means that it will stay on, as long as the card has to upload, and once the card is done, the camera will turn off.

In terms of combos to the CF + SD slot, I'm going to assume that it's just like my D300s. You should be able to shoot RAW to the CF slot, and JPG to the SD slot. RAW + JPG to both. failover, backup, etc...

In terms of specs:

12MBps write speeds (mega bytes per second)
12mbps transfer speeds (mega bits per second)

So if you have, say, a 3MB file, it'll take about 2 seconds. A 30MB file, 15-20 seconds.

Ziv, thanks for the tech details. I think it will work for me and what I'm tring to do. Going out and get one this week. Will report back on how it works out.
