18-135mm

I have had a K100D for years, and now have a K200D too. For 4 years I have been waiting for a reasonable quality all-in-one zoom to use. Nikon has loads, and Canon too, but Pentax were just plain awkward about this for years. Many would say I'm missing the point, and should be using the primes, but I just havent got the money, or the inclination to change lenses all the time.

Enter the 18-135. Hurrah. And you can get it for $499 if you look around. In UK money that would be about £323. A sensible price. But in the Uk it is in fact £599, or in US language $924. How many US enthusiasts would part with $924 for this lens.?

I see absolutely no justification for this discepancy, and am completely exhasperated with the Pentax pricing mechanisms. Can someone explain before I sell up and go Nikon.
