Nikon D3s,First lense?

+1, although I prefer to use my 85mm F1.4D on my D3

rather than my 50mm F1.4G.

It appears the OP is very much into landscape. In that respect, I'd say go for a used 17-35mm F2.8 AF-S. Very, very good zoom, often overlooked today because it is sandwiched by funky super-wides that can't take filters and normal zooms that have "nano-coating".

For landscape shooting the 17-35mm F2.8 is a no-brainer, IMO. Mine cost $600.

I've always thought the 24-70 F2.8 would be a good buy; however, I went with the 50mm F1.4G and 85mm F1.4D instead. Occasionally, I've regretted skipping the zoom, but I find the aperture flexibility of the F1.4 lenses more useful to me.
