I echo Penguin's post. In published material, even sentences or paragraphs lifted from previously published works were supposed to be enclosed in quotes and attributed.

But the internet is like the old west where anything goes and nothing is sacred. It would seem to me to constitute being published as well, but I don't know and will be watching this thread to see if anyone else knows for sure.

It is a much different environment, though, where literally anyone with a keyboard can be "published" or be self-published. Does every piece of dribble (not calling your blog that) posted on a free website constitute "intelectual property?"

In the end, the only things that matter are the people we help and the people we hurt.
