This is a very good lens but it isn't really long enough for wildlife. Consider the 100-400 already mentioned by another poster.

and I shoot soccer and track and field for sports.

70-200 should be long enough. If you want to shoot them indoors or at night you need the 70-200 f2.8 IS.

for wildlife, basically everything the moves

There is a big, big difference between shooting small birds and shooting large animals like moose. The 100-400 is a very good general purpose wildlife lens but you may need more specialist (and very expensive) lenses if you get serious about wildlife.
