Canon 17-55 with 60D question

I just purchased the Canon 17-55 lens for my 60D. Love the lens so far with one exception - when I look through the viewfinder, the corners are dark. It looks like vignetting / light falloff.

Anyway, it doesn't seem to appear in photos or when I use Live View - just through the viewfinder. I removed my UV filter and there was no change. I also use an extender on my viewfinder, but again took it off with no change. Adjusting the aperture results in no change. It disappears between 20 and 35, but is noticeable at every other focal length.

Is this normal for the lens? It did not occur with my Tamron 17-50 nor with my 70-200 f/4 IS, so it caught me off guard. It's just strange to me that I see it through the viewfinder but not on the photos or in Live View. It's not a deal breaker since it doesn't seem to impact the images, but I wanted to ask in case I need to exchange....
