USA must see you naked or touch your junk in the airports now including your sisters/wife , people outcry didnt help
Kuwait : tried to ban blackberries/internet/etc Failed because the people are Men among men they wouldn't take crap from their governments arabs are ruled by tribes not governments for the million time, people still use their DSLR in public even though the story is 2 weeks old and not confirmed by kuwaity officials if it's real
In the mean time you people can laugh at them while they laugh at you

Sure they can, until they get around to banning laughing.
But seriously, many of the laws in that region boil down to a simple premise; ... "we don't trust our people."
Look at the onerous laws against women's rights in many of those nations. Can't drive alone, if at all. Can't drive or appear in public with a man who is not related. Must cover some or all of themselves in public. And so on. They simply don't trust their male populace to act in a civil manner around women.
That's not to say that many other nations, including the USA, aren't guilty of similar forays into perpetual adolescence, but geez, when are we all going to grow up?

And USA is full of **** and Crimes if you want to talk about civilized "men" Kuwaity people leave their house (Entire family leave with no one left in the house) with their main door open unlocked with no security system installed at all and generally these houses full of TVs/laptops/mobiles/etc
If you have a problem with a covered up woman then you have a problem with religion not these countries because religion commands that and because westerns are taking religion lightly doesn't mean their religion tells them so it's just people doesn't care anymore, to them these laws actually "serve" them and they are happy with it, imagine if USA would ban bikinis on the beach america would outrage yet a freedom of "wear" whatever you want in this countries mean Civil war against the government
Only country where woman doesn't drive is Saudi arabia and it's for culture issue
Women can appear in public with men there is no law against that it's just women does not do it because the fear of their male family members if they find out because people here want their daughters/sisters to get married and not to have 3-4 illegal childs until they get married plus no one cares if it was work related but they just don't want sexual stuff outside marriage it's insulting to them
Maybe their country is stupid with lame laws but you bet their people are not ignorant like most americans who knows nothing outside their borders, Kuwait got the highest % of education on the world and Education is FREE and Mandatory if a father wouldn't take his son to school he would get arrested

I heard that rumors too but nothing official i saw couple of photographers taking about this in local TV no more no less
their is no law to ban such activity and if so it should come through the parliament otherwise no one has the right to ban photography by law
in fact i use to take lots of picture in Kuwait but not any more because their is nothing to photograph relay
any how i have mirrorless camera which now i prefer
and btw my mom use to take me to school and now she toke my daughter to school

Relax. I'm not insulting an entire nation or its population. Actually, I'm insulting anyone on the entire planet who need laws to tell them how to act in a civilized manner around women, or who feel that such laws are the only way to insure such civilized behavior.
And I'd be the very last person to ever suggest that we Americans are not ignorant. But, fortunately, a few of us recognize that ignorance and attempt to improve.
