Drowned LX3 back to life!

Some of you may know that my LX3 fell into the lake

That was six weeks ago and I thought it was a goner but went on testing it periodically, always taking the battery out after testing. But after testing it yesterday morning, I forgot to take it out. Last night I turned the camera on and voila! it turned on. It prompted me to take off the lens cap, then it prompted me to set the date and time. Could it require the battery to charge something inside? Or was it a coincidence that it worked after the battery stayed in all day? Any thoughts?

Here are some pics I took today - not the best day weather wise - gray with flurries. I don't understand why the date and time are not correct. Not sure if the image quality hasn't been affected. It would be a near miracle if the sensor and lens escaped the ordeal of the lake and the oven.
