Why 1024x768 size

Not exactly BINARY numbers are they ???? just straight forward doubling up ???

The last figure is 2^10 = 1024

The suggested "better" values of 1000 or 1100 (decimal) become 1111101000 and 10001001100 respectively. As such, the suggested values are no longer quite so pretty.
