There should certainly be a D3100 review before Christmas. It'll still be several weeks away but it's not going to be forgotten. There seems to be a lot more buzz about the more expensive cameras such as the D7000, 60D and the K-5. Does this mean that the D3100 review will not make it before Christmas?
You know, any dSLR that comes out is very good. Any differences in image quality is seen by staring at 100% crops. Buy the one that is in your price range and start shooting. There seems to be a lot more buzz about the more expensive cameras such as the D7000, 60D and the K-5. Would A580 be reviewed at all? (before Christmas or not, doesn't matter). There should certainly be a D3100 review before Christmas. That would be great! But I doubt it'll happen. You know, any dSLR that comes out is very good. Any differences in image quality is seen by staring at 100% crops. Buy the one that is in your price range and start shooting.
That said, are these extremely detailed dSLR reviews still needed? I've read that Dpreview.com spends 6 weeks on a dSLR review. If you leave in the most important parts and cut the time down to 3 weeks, they could review twice as many cameras and get back to more P&S reviews!

ExactlyThere are lots of minimal reviews available right now.
DPR's strength, (Or one of them) is that they take time to do a in-depth review. They are about the only one left to do that, so I'm glad they do. Sometimes I look back at the reviews they have done many years ago and am glad to find such detailed information still available.
This method of doing things has served them well, and helped keep them at the top.
