Changing the paradigm

Sometimes there's a game-changer, and the Nikon D7000 is one. For why, see this thread:

Clearly some people 'get it', and others don't. I want to understand how the ones that don't are thinking, so I homing there might be some answers to some questions:

  1. What user interface advantage does having to set the ISO control before you take photographs offer?

  2. Why would you ever want to set a smaller exposure than the one that satisfies your requirements for DOF, motion blur, freedom from aberrations and freedom from blown highlights?

I realise that some people might not understand where I'm going with this, but please stick with it.
