It is a bit tricky to hold the half-press, but if you can do it, you can take multiple shots with the same exposure (and focus, which may or may not be desirable). I think this will work great for me if I want to manually take photos for a panorama.

I wouldn't be against AE Lock being added as a Custom option. I would probably just use the half-press method, though, myself.
