My main concern overall is , out of all the photos that I saw here or on flickr, they seem more like snapshots to good photographs from enthusiasts and weekend shooters rather then wow you full blown pro photos. is this because so many more pros are using nikon and canon that pentax users will get lost in the crowd as a minority?

Really? This is your main concern? Really?

There are a lot of good Pentax photographers here, and if you go to you will see that there a lot of exciting images form Pentax cams. And you will see that the camera is NOT the dominating factor but the photographer is.

Although i use as a pro more my 5DmkII because of FF in a studio is more compelling to me. But there are a lot of sold shots made with a Pentax cam. Pentax never held me back to deliver my own best.

Agreed, its not the camera that makes one a "pro" if that was true then you could set the camera on a shelf, push the timer and you have a pro shot. while weather seals are good, but are you going to be in areas where you really need it? I mean if its dusty,or wet, are you really going to change a lens at that moment? my work horse lens is a Tamron 28-300 for 99% of my assignments. the barrel extends out far enough to let me handhold it in very low light . 96% of the photos in my Issuu (in signature)albums/magazine (personal projects) were shot with the K100 and that lens. I hate weight in my camera bag and try to travel as light as possible( even with a netbook packed inside.)
