K5 v K7 Low ISO Shadow Noise Sample

This is an ISO 100 shot boosted +4 EV in Lightroom. 1/800 and the FA 77mm f/1.8 at f/1.8. These shots are for noise, not detail, focus points are slightly different.

Photo 1 is default DNG settings from LR for noise reduction (none for luminance and 25 for color)
Photo 2 has noise reduction set at Luminance 50, and the rest default.


K-5 has much less shadow noise, which is where all that added dynamic range is coming from. Highlight clipping is about the same at the same exposure.

However, purple fringing is back. The Samsung sensor had virtually no purple fringing. That said, I am really going to like the K-5.
